Ronka Ruins

The Ronka Ruins are floating above the desert now, and you've got one shot at stopping the Earth Crystal from shattering. Land the airship on the ruins and prepare for two major boss fights. This is the final dungeon of World 1; the jobs you unlock here are some of the best in the game. ## Entering the Ruins The ruins float high above Gohn Town. Your airship can land directly on the structure. Save at the recovery spring near the entrance before heading inside. Stock up on Hi-Potions and Phoenix Downs if you haven't already. The first few rooms have straightforward paths. Enemies here include Ronkan Knights and Stone Golems. The Golems have high defense but fall quickly to magic. Don't waste MP on Ronkan Knights; physical attacks handle them fine. ## Sol Cannon You'll encounter the Sol Cannon blocking your path on the upper floors. This mechanical boss guards the way forward with two smaller Launchers.
Sol Cannon
HP: 12500 (Cannon), 800 each (Launchers)

A three-part mechanical boss. The main cannon charges up for a devastating Surge Beam while the Launchers fire missiles and heal themselves.

Strategy

  • Destroy the Launchers first; they'll revive if you ignore them too long
  • Use Thundara or Thundaga on the main cannon; it's weak to lightning
  • When the cannon starts charging Surge Beam, focus all damage on it
  • A Black Mage with !Focus can deal serious damage here

Rewards: 2500 EXP, 2500 Gil

The Surge Beam hits everyone for around 1500 damage. If you see the charge message, make sure your healer is ready. Curaga after the blast keeps you in the fight. ## Deeper into the Ruins Past Sol Cannon, the ruins shift to ancient stone corridors. Grab the Ancient Sword from the chest before the stairway; it casts Old on enemies, which can trivialize certain fights. The enemies get tougher here. Archeoaevises appear as random encounters; they're the same type as the upcoming boss, just weaker. There's a save point two rooms before the crystal chamber. Use it. Heal up, restore MP, and make sure everyone's at full health. The next fight is rough. ## Archeoaevis The guardian of the Earth Crystal has five different forms. Each time you "kill" it, the creature transforms into something new with different weaknesses.
Archeoaevis
HP: 1600 per form (5 forms, ~8000 total)

A multi-form boss that shifts between elemental weaknesses. Its final form revives with full HP and stronger attacks.

Strategy

  • Forms 1-4 cycle through fire, ice, and lightning weaknesses
  • Physical damage works on every form; don't overthink elemental magic
  • The fifth form absorbs all elements; switch to pure physical attacks
  • Keep Protect up; the final form hits hard with physical combos

Rewards: 2500 EXP, 0 Gil

The fight's a marathon, not a sprint. Conserve your best abilities for the fifth form. If you have a Monk with !Kick or a Knight with !Cover, they'll carry you through the physical slog. ## The Earth Crystal After Archeoaevis falls, the Earth Crystal shatters. But before it breaks completely, the crystal grants your party four powerful jobs: - **Samurai** - High attack power with the !Zeninage (Gil Toss) ability that damages all enemies - **Dragoon** - !Jump attacks bypass most enemy defenses; great for bosses with counters - **Dancer** - Random but powerful !Dance ability; can instant-kill enemies - **Chemist** - !Mix combines items for devastating effects; one of the game's most broken abilities The Chemist's !Mix ability alone makes this crystal worth the effort. Combine a Phoenix Down with a Dragon Fang for Kiss of Blessing, which gives Berserk + Haste + Regen. That's game-changing for tough fights. ## Exdeath Awakens With all four crystals shattered, the seal breaks. Exdeath, the warlock who was imprisoned centuries ago, awakens. The villain wastes no time; he banishes the party and sets his sights on Galuf's world. World 1 ends here. When you regain control, you'll find yourself stranded. The next chapter covers your transition to World 2 and the new challenges waiting there. ## Treasure Chests
