Istory Falls

Istory Falls hides behind a waterfall near the town of Istory. This dungeon holds the sixth and final sealed weapon tablet, plus an optional boss fight against Leviathan. If you want the Leviathan summon, you'll have to earn it.

Getting There

Fly to Istory in the northern region of the merged world. The falls are visible from the air. Land near the town and walk behind the waterfall to find the cave entrance. It's not hidden; just walk straight through the water.

Dungeon Overview

Istory Falls is a five-floor dungeon built into the cliffside. Water flows throughout, and some sections require precise movement to avoid being swept away. The dungeon is linear compared to others, but the enemies hit hard.

Enemy Notes

  • Tonberry - Slow but deadly. Knife attack deals massive damage. Kill before it reaches you.
  • Coral - Water enemy; weak to Lightning.
  • Aquagel - Absorbs water; hit with fire or physical attacks.
  • Oiseaurare - Bird enemy; uses confusion.
  • Nix - Water spirit; casts water magic.

Tonberries are the main threat here. They approach slowly but their Knife attack deals damage equal to 30 times the number of enemies you've killed. That's potentially thousands of damage. Focus fire and kill them fast.

Floor-by-Floor Guide

B1 - B2: Upper Falls

The first two floors wind through rocky passages behind the waterfall. Grab the Air Knife from behind the first waterfall you see; it's easy to miss. The Reflect Ring on B2 auto-casts Reflect at the start of battles; useful but can interfere with healing.

B3: Mid Falls

The current picks up on B3. Some paths push you backward if you walk against the water flow. Move diagonally to make progress. The Goliath Tonic in the hidden room permanently increases HP by 10%; don't skip it.

B4: Leviathan's Domain

Before descending to B5, you'll encounter a large pool. Step into it to trigger the Leviathan fight. This is optional but highly recommended.

Optional Boss: Leviathan

Leviathan
HP: ~40,000

The king of the sea. Uses Tidal Wave for massive water damage to your entire party.

Strategy

  • Leviathan is weak to Lightning; spam Thundaga or Ramuh
  • Tidal Wave deals 1500-2500 water damage to everyone; keep HP high
  • Equip Coral Rings to absorb water damage, making this fight trivial
  • Shell reduces Tidal Wave damage if you don't have Coral Rings
  • He can also cast Blizzaga and Aqua Breath
  • Physical attacks work but magic is more effective

Rewards: 20,000 EXP, 0 Gil, Leviathan Summon

The Leviathan summon deals water damage to all enemies and is one of the strongest summons in the game. Worth the fight.

B5: Final Chamber

After Leviathan (or bypassing him), continue to B5. The Rune Blade here is a solid knight sword. The Enhance Sword is in a hidden chest along the right wall.

The Sixth Tablet sits at the end of the dungeon. Grab it and teleport out. You now have all six tablets.
