Moore Forest

The Great Forest of Moore is where Exdeath was originally sealed. The tree that became Exdeath still stands here, and the remaining seals draw their power from the forest's crystals. Breaking those seals is Exdeath's goal. Stopping him is yours. ## Forest Entrance The forest is dense and maze-like. Paths wind through thick trees, and hidden routes lead to treasure. Fire is dangerous here; the entire forest burns later in the story, so any fire-based attacks risk collateral damage. Stick to ice, lightning, or physical damage. Mammons and Galajellies populate the early areas. The Galajellies split when hit physically; use magic or target them one at a time. Mammons aren't threatening individually but can swarm. Follow the main path north. Side branches lead to chests. The Giant Drink in particular is worth grabbing; it doubles max HP when used in battle. ## Moogle Village Partway through the forest, you'll discover a hidden Moogle Village. The moogles here are friendly and offer rest, supplies, and information. Use the inn; the boss fight ahead is difficult, and you'll want full HP and MP. The moogles mention the Elder Tree, the source of the forest's power. Exdeath covets that power for himself. If he reaches the tree, he'll absorb it and become unstoppable. Grab the Elixir from the storage hut before leaving. Talk to every moogle; some offer hints about the upcoming battle. ## The Crystal Chamber Deep in the forest, four crystals hold the seal. These aren't the world crystals from earlier; they're focused seals containing Exdeath's power. He's trying to absorb them. The party arrives just as Exdeath prepares his assault. You'll fight the four crystals themselves. Each is powered by a different element and attacks with corresponding magic.
Seal Guardians (4 Crystals)
HP: 7777 each

Four crystals with different elemental properties. The Fire Crystal uses fire magic, Ice uses ice, etc. Each absorbs its own element.

Strategy

  • Attack with the opposite element: Fire beats Ice, Ice beats Fire
  • The Earth Crystal is weak to wind; Aeroga destroys it
  • Kill the Fire Crystal first; Firaga hurts the most
  • Physical attacks work on all four if magic isn't your strength

Rewards: 20000 EXP, 10000 Gil

Focus one crystal at a time. With all four alive, they'll chain-cast spells and overwhelm your healing. Taking out even one reduces incoming damage significantly. The Fire Crystal's Firaga is the most dangerous; prioritize it. ## Exdeath Intervenes After destroying the crystals, Exdeath appears. He's not here to fight fairly. He traps the party with magic, and things look hopeless. Galuf breaks free through sheer will and challenges Exdeath alone. This is the game's most significant moment. Galuf fights Exdeath one-on-one. You control Galuf, but the outcome is scripted. No matter how much damage you take, Galuf keeps standing. His HP drops to zero, and he keeps fighting. He takes lethal hit after lethal hit and refuses to die. Eventually, Exdeath retreats. But the damage is done. ## Galuf's Sacrifice Galuf collapses. The party tries everything: Cura, Curaga, Raise, Phoenix Down, Elixir. Nothing works. Galuf's body is beyond saving. He held on through force of will alone, and now there's nothing left. He passes away surrounded by his friends. It's permanent. Galuf is gone. ## Krile Joins Krile, Galuf's granddaughter, arrives moments later, drawn by a premonition. She inherits Galuf's spirit, his will, and crucially, all his job levels and abilities. Every bit of ABP you invested in Galuf transfers to Krile. She's mechanically identical, just a different character. Krile joins the party permanently. She's 14 years old and now the last of Galuf's line. Her motivation is personal; she wants to finish what her grandfather started. ## After the Forest With the seals broken and Galuf gone, the situation's changed. Exdeath's power is growing. The party needs a new strategy. The Elder Tree, grateful for your protection, gifts the Aegis Shield. This shield blocks some magic attacks automatically; it's one of the best defensive items available. Return to base and regroup. The road ahead is long, and the party's morale is shattered. But they'll carry on. That's what Galuf would want. ## Treasure Chests
