FF WalkthroughLenna's wind drake Hiryu fled to North Mountain after the Wind Crystal shattered. The mountain is covered in poisonous purple flowers, and a hunter named Magissa has Hiryu trapped at the summit.
Climbing the Mountain
The path winds back and forth up the mountainside. Purple flowers line the route; walking through them poisons your entire party. You can't always avoid them, so bring Antidotes or have Poisona ready on your White Mage.
Enemies here include Blocks (weak to nothing, high defense), Cockatrices (can petrify), and Headstones (undead). The Cockatrices are the real danger; keep Gold Needles on hand or use a Soft if someone gets stoned.
The Summit
At the top, you'll find Hiryu badly wounded. Magissa, a hunter, confronts you. She's after the wind drake for profit. Lenna gets angry. Battle time.
Magic-focused fighter. When her HP drops low, she summons her partner Forza.
Strategy
- Kill Magissa fast before she summons Forza - this makes the fight much easier
- All-out physical attacks work best; she's not tanky
- If Forza appears (HP: 850), he hits hard but has low magic defense
- Forza is weak to Silence - shut him down then focus Magissa
Rewards: 2 ABP, 600 Gil
After defeating Magissa, Hiryu is still poisoned from the flowers. Lenna does something reckless to save him - she eats the poisonous Dragon Grass herself. This doesn't kill her, but the scene reveals how much she cares for the dragon.
The Wind Drake Joins
Hiryu recovers and joins your party as a transport. You can now fly over mountains and certain terrain obstacles. However, Hiryu can only land on flat ground without forests, so you're limited in where you can go.
Your immediate destination is Walse Castle to the west. Fly there directly; it's much faster than walking.

Next Steps
Mount Hiryu and fly west to Walse. The Water Crystal is there, and something's wrong with it. Also, Walse Tower appears near the kingdom - that's your next dungeon.
