After obtaining the Water Crystal jobs, your next destination is the town of Amur. The Enterprise can't fly yet - you'll need a special item to restore its power. Amur holds the key, but first you'll have to navigate the town's sewers to help some old men in trouble.
Amur
Amur is a prosperous town with a dark secret lurking beneath its streets. Before heading into the sewers, explore the town thoroughly for hidden items. The shops here sell upgraded equipment including Viking gear and new magic.
Amur Sewers
Four old men in town are being held hostage in the sewers by monsters. Speak to the townspeople to learn about the situation, then head to the sewer entrance. The sewers are 4 floors deep with 5 treasure chests and a reward waiting at the end.
Bestiary
Enemies in the Amur Sewers:
- Darklegs - Standard enemy, no special threats
- Gigantoad - Can inflict Toad status, bring Maiden's Kiss or have Esuna ready
- Twin Liger - Hits hard physically, prioritize taking them down
- Stroper - Has decent HP but nothing special
B1-B2
The first floor is simple. Follow the path to the stairs leading down. On B2, head left to find the Cat Claws in a chest. This is a solid weapon for Monks or anyone fighting unarmed. Continue through the floor to reach the next set of stairs.
B3-B4
B3 connects the upper and lower sections. Push through to B4, where most of the treasure is located. On B4, collect the Main Gauche on the left, the Thorian Hammer on the right, and the Orichalcum and Power Bracers in the central and exit areas. The Power Bracers provide a nice stat boost.
Rescuing the Old Men
At the bottom of the sewers, you'll find the four old men trapped by monsters. Defeat the enemies and speak to them. In gratitude, they give you the Levigrass Shoes. This key item allows you to walk on water, but more importantly, it's needed to enter Goldor Manor.
Return to the surface using Teleport or by walking back. The old men will be waiting in Amur and offer additional information about Goldor and his golden chain.
Goldor Manor
West of Amur lies Goldor Manor, home to the wealthy and eccentric Goldor. He's chained your Enterprise to his property with a golden chain, and only by defeating him can you reclaim your airship. The manor is filled with golden enemies and treasure chests - but don't get too excited about the loot.
Bestiary
Enemies in Goldor Manor:
- Lost Gold - Common throughout the manor
- Gold Eagle - Only appears on 1F. Make sure to encounter this enemy before leaving the first floor or you'll miss the bestiary entry.
- Gold Warrior - Tougher gold enemy, higher attack
- Gold Bear - High HP, slow but dangerous
- Gold Knight - The strongest gold enemy type
- Nightmare - Can inflict Sleep, deal with quickly
Missable Bestiary: The Gold Eagle only appears on the first floor of Goldor Manor. If you progress past 1F without encountering one, you'll miss the bestiary entry permanently. Grind a few battles on 1F until you've fought at least one Gold Eagle before continuing.
The Golden Swords
Goldor Manor contains 12 treasure chests. Eleven of them contain Golden Swords, which sounds great until you realize they're essentially worthless - they sell for a pittance and aren't particularly strong weapons. The only non-sword chest contains a Wyvern Claw, which is actually useful for your melee fighters.
Despite the disappointing loot, open all the chests for completion purposes. Work through all four floors of the manor, collecting the Golden Swords as you go. The layout is fairly linear with some branching paths.
Boss: Goldor
At the top of the manor, you'll face Goldor himself. He's obsessed with gold and will not let you take your Enterprise back without a fight.
Weakness: None | Resists: All magic
Goldor has extremely high magic resistance, making spells nearly useless. This is a physical fight through and through. Load up your party with your strongest melee classes - Knights, Vikings, Monks, and Dark Knights all work well. Use Haste and Protect to buff your fighters, then attack relentlessly.
- • Physical attacks deal the most damage - forget offensive magic
- • Buff your party with Haste and Protect before going all-out
- • Vikings with Provoke can help manage his attacks
- • Keep one character on healing duty with Curaga
After defeating Goldor, he drops the key to the golden chain. Return to where your Enterprise is docked and use the key to free your airship. You can now fly again, and the world opens up for more exploration.
